Install trouble on Citrix Xen

Post by jdpncv »

Hello,
I am attempting to install C-MOR server into Xen. I am running into an issue with mounts.

First, I created my instance by selecting my CPU, memory and storage resources and selecting "other installation media" as my install option.

I select the ISO and my instance boots to the C-MOR installation menu. I select "automatic" but then the installation halts because of mounting issues.

I am getting "/dev/sda does not exist". I switch to interactive mode where I have 3 devices in my mount list.
/dev/sda3 - / (9891M)
/dev/sda2 - /boot (86M)
/dev/sda1 - swap (256M)

There is a warning message that no LVM modification is possible and that I should edit /tmp/i-want-my-lvm but that file does exist and I don't know what it is I should put in there. Furthermore, since this only seems to boot off the ISO, I don't know if adding the file will do anything.

I've tried renaming my volumes, in particular sda3 to sda, with no success. I've tried deleting all 3 partitions and building one new one with no success.

I'm a little lost. Any direction or advice on installation would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

Can you provide a screenshot from the screen where you installation fails?

I just tried the installation on a Xen-Server 5 and it just finished the installation without any issues. I used the settings you described. I did the automatic installation.

Which Xen version are you using?

Which version of C-MOR are you trying to install?

Hi Michael,

I am using Xen Center 6.2 - Build 1377. I am attempting to install c-mor-v4-11pl07 (the most recent ISO from the website).
cmor-xen-6.2 install screen.PNG
cmor-xen-6.2 install screen.PNG (13.23 KiB) Viewed 14758 times
I think the issue I am encountering is simply that the installation doesn't seem to recognize my storage. However, when the instance boots, it is identifying the disk space I've allocated, so I am unsure why the installation process doesn't see it.

Xen shows the storage path as /dev/hda, not /dev/sda. Could that be the issue?

Thank you for helping me with this.

May I ask which server template you used in XEN to provision the instance in which you are running CMOR?

Hi,

I also used the "other installation media" for the installation.

If sda is missing usually the virtual drive is mapped as hda instead of sda. Changing this in interactive mode works, but is extensive to configure.

We look forward to do a test installation on a current Xenserver 6 shortly to track down this installation issues.

It appears to me that this is the case. I have attempted to remap this through interactive mode, but just changing the drive mappings from /dev/sda to /dev/hda has not made a difference.

You mention this is extensive; is there more to it than changing the drive mappings?

We could track down this problem.

The installation does not work in new XenServers (6.2) since new XenServer do not use the old QEMU devices any more.

Ok, I understand how that is an issue. Please advise if there is any additional information I can provide.

Thank you for looking into this and taking the time to respond.

Hi,

You are welcome. We will look deeper into this problem. We may get it working, but it may take some time.

Do you have another environment to install it, or is Xen the only you can use?

Regards,

We generated an image which works in Automatic Installation mode on Xenserver 6.2.

Here is the download link:

I do have a stand alone server I can use to install the standard release from the website.

I am now downloading the Xen 6.2 image you have posted. I look forward to trying it.

Thank you again! I will post results after I try the install image.

The new image worked very well. I am now running the 3 license demo server, thank you again!

This is probably a question for another board, but is this server ONVIF compliant? Despite the supported cameras, could I stream from any camera with the right configuration?

Hi,

C-MOR is not ONFIV compliant. It works with most cameras supporting JPEG or MJPEG streaming. Not all cameras are working, but the most.
